Griffin Athletic Club Annual Athletic Sports Section Championship shield

Varnished wooden shield with a shield-shaped metal plate at the centre with an ornate outer border of leaves, berries and scrolls, an inner border of scales and scrolls and a raised central motif depicting a running man. The plate also features two inscriptions, 'GRIFFIN ATHLETIC CLUB', and, 'ANNUAL ATHLETIC SPORTS SECTION CHAMPIONSHIP.'

There are 24 further shield-shaped silver and metal plates pinned around the edge of the wooden shield, all of which are inscribed with winners' names and dates. A further shield-shaped silver plate is pinned to the reverse of the shield and bears the engraved inscription, 'HEAD OFFICE 1924'

A hinged wooden stand and a hanging cord are attached to the reverse of the shield.
