Documents from Sainsbury's Retail Administration department (previously called Branch Administration department) sent on a regular basis to various people at Sainsbury's head office containing statistics on the number of different types of stores for each four-weekly financial period and dates of stores openings and closures during the year. The documents were titled 'Number of Branches', later retitled 'Number of Retail Outlets', and later 'Analysis of Retail Outlets'.

Includes numbers of supermarkets, self service stores, service stores, freezer centres, petrol stations, coffee shops and off licences. Also includes the dates of branches, freezer centres, petrol stations, coffee shops and off licences opened and closed during the financial year.
