Black and white contact sheets showing former MP Michael Heseltine on a visit to Sainsbury's Nine Elms store with Sir John Sainsbury [later Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover] and Mr Timothy Sainsbury and other unidentified males.

Photographer: Grahame Hitchcock.

Two of the photographs featured in JS Journal (staff magazine) April 1982. JS Journal said that: "Michael Heseltine, secretary of state for the Department of the Environment, recently paid an informal visit to JS's Nine Elms store accompanied by the chairman, Sir John Sainsbury and Timothy Sainsbury, a non-executive director and also the secretary of state's parliamentary private secretary. The company is justifiably proud of its achievements with the store particularly in terms of the criteria set for improving run-down inner city areas proposed in the Government's White Paper of 1977 and Michael Heseltine was keen to see the results at first hand. After a tour of the site and store he was, reported Nine Elms manager, Bill Williams, 'most impressed!'"
