"I started with JS in 1971 as a trainee butcher, had 3 weeks training at Blackfriars school and then to my first branch Dorking. I worked at lots of local branches mainly manual stores - Leatherhead, Tolworth,Surbiton, Hook, Epsom Upper High street. and various stores in south London before moving to Cardiff and working at Cwmbran store which at the time was the first JS store in Wales. Left JS and worked in abattoir and private butchery for about 3 yrs then rejoined JS as butcher before getting promoted to assistant meat manager at Wimbledon and then promoted there to meat manager, worked at several south London stores , Kings road, Fulham North End road, Cromwell road and others at different times. Left again late 80s only to return again as night shift butcher at Cobham.
