Sainsbury's Cola first started appearing on shelves in the late 1960s, with this classic design that features the word Sainsbury's as a straw.

This stayed pretty consistent throughout the 1970s.

Then the first change came in 1979, when the iconic straw was flattened.

And new sizes and versions were released. When Sainsbury's released caffeine free Cola in 1983, it was the first of it’s kind in the UK.

Then in the late 1980s we see major changes to the design.

Sainsbury's introduced Classic Cola in 1994. This was a complete revamp of Sainsbury's own label cola, introducing an 'original American taste' which was made in the USA and the concentrate shipped over to Britain.

But, we couldn't finish without mentioning a much loved (personally) but short-lived cola hero, the clear Cola. It was launched in 1992 but only lasted a few years as the craze for clear coke fizzed out.

Let us know if you have a favourite design or remember drinking any of these various types of cola.
