I grew up in Scotland where there were no Sainsbury supermarkets, but every year we went on holiday to England, York, Weston Super Mare, Blackpool, and more. I have such a clear memory of driving into a Sainsbury's car park, and the (what seemed) huge illuminated J SAINSBURY sign shining out. Inside there were all sorts of amazing things, walnut yoghurt! Lancashire Sausages! More than one type of Marmalade! Everything seemed so luxurious, and exotic - coming from Scotland where Supermarkets stocked pink sausages and meat pies.
I still get that same feeling when I see the SAINSBURYS sign today
