Tiles (chrysanthemum and leaf design)

Rectangular machine pressed relief border tile with main chrysanthemum and leaf design and floral borders. The tile has a blue coloured glaze ground with coloured glazes over the raised areas of the design; brown for the borders, green for the leaves and yellow, white and red for the chrysanthemums. There is a raised inscription on the reverse, 'M H & Co. 43W'. This is an example of the house style used on the walls of Sainsbury's branches from the 1890s to the late 1940s.
