Wooden implement with a short handle and a large slicing head. The slice is smooth on both sides and has a cutting edge. There is an inscription on the handle, 'J. SAINSBURY BLACKFRIARS'. It would have been used in conjunction with a butter beater to cut sections off a large block of butter in counter service Sainsbury's branches. A pre-existing reference number is written in black ink on this item.
