There were just three weeks between the handover of the store to Sainsbury's and the opening day, so it was a rush to prepare the store for opening (as noted in 'JS Journal' Christmas 1974). In the foreground, builders can be seen at work. In the background outside the store can be seen Ian Wort (building clerk-of-works) and Ron Lawday (engineering clerk-of-works). The photograph has a reference 22785/21 written on the back.
