Video provided as part of the teacher’s pack for the Sainsbury’s Pictures for Schools scheme in 1998.

The scheme by Sainsbury’s provided free prints of paintings from various UK art galleries to schools around the country. In 1998, the scheme sent prints to 1200 special needs schools. The teacher’s pack including the video would have been sent to all the schools which received the prints.

The video starts with introductions by Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover and Chitra Aloysius. This is followed by teachers and art gallery curators talking about the individual pictures and how they have been used in school classes. It includes footage showing art activities being carried out by children at schools inspired by the prints.
