Journal giving a summary of money going into and out of various ledger accounts during each financial period (each financial year is divided into 13 periods). There is a table for accounts under various headings such as depreciation (of plant, fixtures and fittings(; meal vouchers; Officials annual cheques; housekeeping revenue adjustments and insurances.
These tables have columns for each account code eg B4/77 and these give more specific details of the type of expenditure. For most account codes there is a description above or below to explain the code - B4/77 is "Branch Fixtures" (in the depreciation table). The figures in red appear to indicate the money going into the account (debits) and these balance with the figures in black or blue which appears to be the money going out of the account (credits).
A 'Source' number is also given for each table - perhaps this was refer to indicate a cash book or other account book from which the figures were taken. No list of these source numbers to identify what they refer to can be found in the book however.
This journal was perhaps used to help arrange the money into the correct ledger account code before posting into the ledger. It however is not in a typical journal format and does not give details of individual transactions - it only gives a summary.
