The 'Plesseys' as they were generally known, were kind of ground breaking in their day, but the combination of a C60 cassette tape, giant battery the size of a car battery at the base of the trolley and the 0-9 keypad and single line display (not even sure it was an LED display back then) made them an unwieldy machine to push around at 3 o'clock every afternoon to put the shelf orders in. The modems back in the buffer room were the size of produce crates too, amazing nowadays that all of that could be done done with a phone today. I still am proud at doing bar code ordering in '73 when 99% of people didn't know what a bar code was.
