The photograph was included in 'JS Journal' October 1980 on the front cover. 'JS Journal' states: "Christmas comes to JS on September 29, the day most of the company's Christmas lines go on sale in the branches. This year's display will be bigger and better than ever. The experience gained from the breakfast cereals shortage around this time last year proved a valuable one. The empty shelves resulting from the shortage were used to good effect to display Christmas lines—and sales benefited. So much so that this year more space than ever before is being given over to seasonal goodies. You can see just a few of those goodies on the front cover. As someone once said 'we could not possibly show all we are going to sell' this Christmas. Our apologies to all the departments we were not able to squeeze into our picture. Some, like the fresh produce section, we could not include for obvious reasons—most of them are still growing". The image shows: Christmas cards; Cadbury's Roses; a doll; Christmas crackers; Sainsbury's Liebfraumilch; Matchbox SuperKings K-2 Car Recovery Vehicle toy vehicle; 'The Complete Colour Cookbook'; Sainsbury's Fancy Biscuit Assortment; Father Christmas (decoration, or perhaps chocolate in foil?); Belin ...ecital; Sainsbury's Rich Christmas Pudding; Sainsbury's (unidentified wine); Sainsbury's Pickled Onions; Sainsbury's Piccalili; Sainsbury's Chubby Christmas; Sainsbury's Stem Ginger in Sugar Syrup; Sainsbury's Portugu... (wine); Ocean Spray Cranberry Sauce; a biscuit tin; a Christmas mug; Sainsbury's Luxury Christmas Cake; wrapping paper; unpackaged toy cars.
