Correspondence, photographs, and press release relating to the presentation of a cheque from Sainsbury's and four suppliers (Brooke Bond Oxo, Coca-Cola, Heinz, and United Biscuits) for £100,000 to the NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children). The presentation was given by Sir John Sainsbury (Chairman of Sainsbury's, later Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover) to HRH The Princess Margaret (as President of the NSPCC) on 28 November 1984. The donation was made for the NSPCC's Centenary Appeal and followed an appeal in Sainsbury's stores when customers returned proofs of purchase for selected products - for each proof of purchase 5p was donated by manufacturers.
