Video about Sainsbury’s supply chain mainly to explain the changes which were being made to improve efficiency while ensuring high availability (having products available in stores for customers to purchase in time). The video seems to be intended for an internal audience within the company, possibly just for supply chain staff.

Actions were being taken to integrate the supply chain (eg stock ordering from suppliers, delivery from depots, and management of stock in stores) and move towards more of a "just in time" model with stock being moved quickly to stores when needed rather than keeping excessive stocks of goods stored in depots. The video explains what had been done so far and what was planned, the benefits of the changes, the technology and processes used including SCION (Supply Chain Integrated Ordering Network) and SABRE (used for stock ordering by branches).

Includes interviews with members of staff: John Rowe (Director, Logistics), Bob Parle (Director, Distribution), Rachael Murphy (Provisions Manager, Bromley), Giles Harvey (Logistics Controller), Marco Sarro (Grocery Manager, Bromley), Nick Allen (Depot Manager, Charlton) and brief interviews (vox pops) with others.

Includes footage of: depot interiors; staff working in depots; computer systems used; equipment used in depots; Sainsbury’s lorries; store interior(s); staff in office; employee using handheld reader in store to help with the management of stock; store warehouse. Some of the footage is likely to be from Bromley store and Charlton depot (as staff from that store and depot are included in interviews).

Duration: 9 minutes 23 seconds. Produced by Delivering The Product Change Management Team, J Sainsbury plc.
