Five videos which appear to be recordings of an episode of 'Answering Back' (television programme) broadcast on 4 October 1992 on Channel 4 featuring an interview with David Sainsbury on becoming chairman of Sainsbury's.

Summary (either written on tape or from an old finding aid):
"Own brand/proprietary brand goods. Fromage frais from France. Marking country of origin/dealing with foreign suppliers eg Argentina, South Africa. Animal rights/veal from UK only: Halal/Kosher food not stocked. No use of returnable bottles. Health: no reason not to stock potentially harmful products such as liquor. No pressure on suppliers. Maintaining growth during recession. Use of TV adverts - mango. Competition from Kwik Save at bottom end of market: people prefer a full range of goods. Aim to achieve value for money. Demand for Sunday trading. Aim for 7% growth, similar hopes for profits. Young senior management team. Personal involvement with the SDP. Belief in industrial efficiency and wealth creation allied with social justice. Would probably not have gone into business if background different: interest in scientific research, teaching."
