Photographs showing work in progress to prepare Sainsbury's for the new computer at Sainsbury's head office Stamford House. Includes Mrs J. Turner (IBM Room Supervisor) preparing facts and figures for the new computer with Miss E. Russell and Miss E. Aston.
A computer room was built for the new EMIDEC 1100 computer (Sainsbury's first computer) which was to be installed there. The room had to have specially controlled environmental conditions - the temperature and humidity needed to be controlled and the air needed to be filtered to prevent dust settling on to magnetic tapes.
