Match box cover (tray missing) for Sainsbury's Safety Matches. The match box is one of six from the 'Sainsbury's Buildings' series, with each featuring a different image of a Sainsbury's branch. The images were taken from the 'Monumental Map of London' (SA/HIST/1/26) dated 1894. The text on the packet is the same as the caption on the original map which refers to 'Charlton Street' rather than 'Chalton Street' as it is spelled today. 'Charlton' was an archaic spelling of this road name that was sometimes used historically though it may have been used here in error. Box is labelled as a 'Product of Czechoslovakia'.

The images were taken from the 'Monumental Map of London' (SA/HIST/1/26) dated 1894. The branch depicted is the one at 87-89 High Road, Balham (the address in the caption is presumably an old address prior to a renumbering on that road). Box is labelled as a 'Product of Czechoslovakia'.
