Contents:
1. Presenter summarises the year including information on financial figures and profit sharing. Footage is included of staff working in store; Streatham Common store exterior; warehouse in a store; taste testing of yogurts; Buttermilk Dessert being packed.
2. Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover (Chairman and Chief Executive) talks about the company’s financial results and how they achieved it.
3. Report on Guildford store being improved as part of the store enhancement programme to modernize older stores and add new features (eg delicatessen counter). Interviews with Colin Harvey (Retail Director) and Lewis Elliott (Store Manager, Guildford) are included. Footage includes lorry arriving Guildford store; Guildford store interior; delicatessen.
4. Report about improvements in refrigeration with enlarged/modernized refrigerated displays at 56 stores and about importance of cold chain in general. Footage included of refrigerated displays in a store and a checkout with ready meals.

6. Report on Savacentre’s new hypermarket at London Colney – the largest hypermarket in Britain. An interview with John O’Sullivan (Store Director) is included.
7. Report on the Scientific Services Division and their work to monitor food safety during a year of food scares. Footage is included of staff working in the laboratory at head office doing various tests. An interview with Dr Roy Spencer (Director, Scientific Services) is included.
8. Report on the new product development initiative with new products and introduction of product development managers. Footage is included of: fresh fruit and vegetables display; taste testing of yogurts; supplier Raynes dairy in Wantage making new Buttermilk Dessert.
9. Report on environmental initiatives including use of less harmful CFCs (chlorofluorocarbons) and CFC leak detector being installed, low energy use and the company’s support for the ‘Green Label’ scheme for environmentally friendly commercial buildings. Footage is included of refrigeration system and energy system at Streatham Common store; Streatham Common store exterior. An interview with Peter Ibbotson (Departmental Director, Construction & Engineering) is included.
10. Report on Sainsbury’s Retail Training Scheme to train young people to work in food retail careers. Footage is included of trainees at work in Chadwell Heath store and studying in an office. Interviews are included with retail trainees.
11. Report on initiative to encourage older people to come to back to work with flexible working hours. Includes interviews with older staff and footage at work in a store.
12. Report on Sainsbury’s scholarship scheme to sponsor staff going into higher education. Footage is included of employee working on checkout.
13. Report on opportunity for women to become part-time section managers. Footage included of a section manager at work.
14. Report on new job evaluation programme. Footage is included of Streatham Common staff canteen, staff at work, checkout, fishmonger, delicatessen and customer service desk.
15. Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover and three directors thank staff and talk about the company’s priorities for the year ahead. Each of the directors has a brief message - David Sainsbury (later Lord Sainsbury of Turville) (Deputy Chairman); David Quarmby (Joint Managing Director); and Tom Vyner (Joint Managing Director Designate).
