Recording of the ninth edition of "Retail Review", a news magazine programme for Sainsbury’s store management teams with reports, interviews with Sainsbury's staff, and video footage from stores. It was presented by Roy Sheppard.

Contents:
1. "Latest News" - 1995 Senior Management Conference on theme of 'Building a World Class Business'; acquisition of Texas Homecare to make Homebase the second largest DIY chain; Sainsbury's 125th birthday celebrations including prizes and gifts; SABRE IV ordering system; cashless pay introduced for all staff, reminder to complete daily attendance bulletin.
2. "Retail Initiatives" - improved communications - electronic mail, weekly bulletins, conference; management restructuring roadshow; Nigel Broome (Chairman, Retail Communications Group) explains benefits of management roadshows for directors to update store managers and gain feedback, how Retail Review programme helps inform store management teams, plans for a new programme for staff, JS Journal, store newsletters and other communications.
3. "Trading Issues" - changes to in-store bakeries with move away from scratch baking to central production of pre-formed bread for final bake-off in stores with a new factory in Milton Keynes; interview with Brian Horley (Senior Manager, J S [Sainsbury's] Bakeries) about changes to bakeries and impact on staff at in-store bakeries.
4. "Checkout" - interview with Colin Harvey (Retail Director) discussing success of Christmas 1994, supply situation, disappointing post-Christmas sales, store security staff awareness video, 125th anniversary celebrations to reward customers, management roadshows.

Includes footage of: management conference; Homebase store interior; Texas Homecare store exterior; employee using SABRE system; warehouse; staff stocking shelves; and in-store bakeries. The interior footage from Sainsbury's stores is probably from Princess Square in Bracknell and Godalming stores which are thanked at the end.
