On 8 Jun 2001, an attempt was made to steal 240 items from the Savacentre at 1 Claps Gate Lane, East Ham, London by loading the items into a trolley. The perpetrators were caught and the items were put through the till and the amount they would have cost came to £2397.36 making it the largest attempted shoplift to date. The receipt produced by putting the items through the till was sent to the Archives.
