Video for Sainsbury’s staff to demonstrate what a really good shopping experience looks like. The video is introduced by Colin Harvey (Retail Director). The introduction seems to imply that it is one part of a training programme – after those watching it had “walked in the shoes of the customer” in their own and other retailer’s stores.

The video depicts a customer who first visits another company’s store and has a terrible shopping experience. He then visits a Sainsbury’s store where he has the perfect shopping experience with very helpful staff. He has visions during his shopping trip including bakers singing about their fresh bread. David Sainsbury then gives a concluding message about the importance of customer service. It then finishes with the customer and his partner enjoying a meal and agreeing with a video of his trip about Sainsbury’s good customer service and quality.

Footage includes: Water Lane store exterior; a car park; employee pushing trolleys; store interior with staff and customers; Coffee Shop; fresh fruit and vegetables department; product displays; fresh meat department; delicatessen counter; in-store bakery; point of sale advertising promoting offers; beers, wines and spirits department; health and beauty department; checkout; and filling up at the petrol station. The footage is probably from Water Lane (Farnham), Godalming, and Low Hall (Chingford) stores (which are thanked at the end).
