Sainsbury Archive Logo
11 videos containing unedited footage and an edited report probably for use in one or more business television programmes for Sainsbury's staff (mainly store management teams) broadcast on the "SMART" network (Sainsbury's Management and Retail Television) sometime around June 1997. The Archive does not appear to have digitized recordings of any programmes broadcast during this time to confirm exactly how the footage was used.

Contents:
- Nearly finished[?] version of report including interviews with store format director John Phillipson, regional director (South West) Graham Naylor and branch staff (no captions onscreen) talking about changes to the design, layout and service of instore bakeries at St. Clare's, Hampton branch and branches in general. Includes clips of staff and customers, bakery counter, displays of bread, baking of bread and product sampling by customers. The footage has been edited to make a coherent programme but perhaps has not been completely finished.
- Unedited footage used to make the above report.
- Unedited interviews and footage from the Chelsea Flower Show held on 20-23 May 1997. The show included a Sainsbury’s stand which featured fruit and vegetables artistically arranged as if they were flowers or ornamental plants. This was part of the show’s UK Horticulture display "in conjunction with" the National Farmers Union (NFU) and Sainsbury’s.
- Unedited interviews and footage about staff councils at stores, filmed at Kingsland Shopping Centre, Dalston store and Moreton Hall, Bury St Edmunds store.
- Graphics relating to Sainsbury’s sponsorship of the Special Olympics with text detailing key dates and regional co-ordinators (with "SMART" network theme), and image of cover of document about “Talk Back ...checking out your views” survey.
