Tile (from Reigate branch)

Machine pressed relief tile with a stylised plant design. The tile has a white and cream coloured glaze ground with a tan coloured glaze over the raised areas of the design. There is a raised inscription on the reverse, 'MINTON, HOLLINS & Co.' This wall tile came from the Sainsbury's branch built at Reigate in 1925 and is in the Sainsbury's house style that predominated from the 1890s to the late 1940s; it would have been on the wall behind the counter.
