Geometric and stylised floral transfer-printed design under a colourless glaze. A raised inscription on the reverse includes the maker's name, 'MINTON, HOLLINS & Co PATENT TILE WORKS STOKE ON TRENT'. This style of tile was used on the counters of early Sainsbury's showpiece branches such as 44/46 High Street, Lewisham, 87/9 High Road, Balham and 292/4 High Road, Brondesbury.
