Rectangular wooden box with a brown leather carry handle at the top, four rubber feet at the bottom and a dial with a needle for measuring temperature from -150 to 250 degrees Farenheit on the front.

A long brown rubber tube with a white metal probe at the end can be attached to the left side of the main unit and there is a switch on the other side. The thermometer was used to measure the temperature of items being probed. A metal plaque inscribed, 'J.S. Ltd 43/4976' is screwed to the bottom of the box and there are further inscriptions giving the makers name and serial number.
